Uncrating and disposal

Uncrating, container unstuffing and disposal services in Singapore

The short answer

Shiplet's uncrating and disposal service in Singapore opens wooden crates after shipping, stuffs and unstuffs containers, and clears any waste: pallets, packaging, old furniture, office clear-outs, renovation debris. We send a crew with a pick-up lorry or a small, 3ft, 4ft or 5ft bin, and take everything to NEA-licensed disposal facilities we deal with directly, such as our partner's in Tuas. Tell us what, where and when; the quote comes within a few hours.

Our partner's NEA-licensed disposal facility in Tuas

What we take away from your site goes straight to a licensed disposal facility, not to someone else's yard first. We work directly with disposal facilities licensed by Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA). The photos below were taken at our partner's facility in Tuas, where excavators sort the mixed waste, timber and green waste, and forklifts lift the full bins.

Dealing with the facility ourselves means there is no extra layer between your waste and the gate. That is where our rates come from, and it is why we can quote a single job, a few crates after a delivery, as readily as a warehouse clear-out.

Uncrating, stuffing, unstuffing and disposal services

What our crew does
JobWhat it covers
UncratingOpening wooden crates around machines, furniture, stone or glass after shipping, removing the boards, battens, foam and plastic, and taking the crate away
Container unstuffingEmptying a 20' or 40' container at your premises, by hand or onto pallets, and clearing the dunnage and packaging
Container stuffingLoading cartons, pallets or loose items into a container for export, stowed tightly so nothing shifts
Rubbish and bulky waste disposalOld furniture, office and warehouse clear-outs, renovation debris, garden waste, unwanted stock
Pallet and packaging disposalTaking away pallets, cartons, plastic wrap, foam and straps after a delivery

Most jobs are a mix of these: a container to unstuff, the crates that were in it to open, and the waste from both to take away. One crew can do it in the same visit. The service is open to any business or household in Singapore, whether or not you ship with us.

Get a quote for uncrating or disposal

  1. Tell us about the job. Use the form below, or WhatsApp +65 8162 1037: what it is, roughly how much, the address and the day. Photos of the crates or the pile help us choose the crew and the bin.
  2. Get your quote within a few hours. We reply by email or WhatsApp, 9:00am to 6:00pm every day, with the crew, the lorry or bin and the price. Nothing is booked until you agree to it.
  3. We do the job and take it away. The crew arrives with the lorry or the bin, does the work, and everything goes to the licensed facility.

Bin rental and lorry disposal: small, 3ft, 4ft and 5ft bins

We do not send one bin for everything. A few items can go on our pick-up lorry the same visit; a renovation or a warehouse clear-out needs a bin left on site to fill. Tell us roughly what you have and we choose, so you are not paying for empty space.

Lorry and bin options
OptionBest for
Pick-up lorryLoad and go in one visit, with no bin left behind: furniture, a few crates, the packaging from one delivery
Small binA few crates or a delivery's cartons, foam and plastic, where space at the site is tight
3ft binHeavy waste that would overload a taller bin: tiles, concrete, soil and other renovation debris
4ft binMixed loads: a shop or office clear-out, or a container's dunnage with some heavier waste
5ft binBulky, light waste: pallets, crate wood, cardboard, furniture and warehouse clear-outs

A bin is dropped at your site, filled by you or by our crew, and collected for the facility. Not sure how much there is? Measure a crate or a stack of pallets and put the sizes into our CBM calculator: the volume in cubic metres is what we size the bin from, and for a crate that has not arrived yet it is on your supplier's packing list.

What the quote depends on:

  • How much there is, by volume and weight: the number of crates, pallets or bags, or the cubic metres.
  • What it is. Clean timber and packaging are simpler than mixed or hazardous waste.
  • The crew: how many people and for how long, which depends on the job and on whether a forklift or pallet jack is on site.
  • Access: a loading bay at ground level, or a lift and corridors to get through.

Rubbish, bulky waste and hazardous waste disposal

Uncrating is where this service started, but the crew and the bins handle any disposal job in Singapore, at home, in an office, a shop, a warehouse or a factory.

Disposal jobs we take on
Disposal jobWhat we take away
Furniture and bulky item disposalSofas, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, tables, shelving and other items too big for the rubbish chute; new pieces can be put together by our furniture assembly team on the same visit
Office and warehouse clearanceDesks, chairs, racking, cartons, unwanted or written-off stock, and everything left after a move
Renovation and construction debrisTiles, plasterboard, timber, old fittings and the rubble from hacking works
Pallets, crates and packagingWooden pallets, skids, crate wood, cardboard, foam and plastic wrap
Garden and green wasteBranches, cut plants and garden clearance
Hazardous and industrial wasteChemicals, paint, oil, batteries and gas cylinders, handled apart from general waste

Hazardous waste: tell us what it is

We take chemicals, paint, oil, batteries, gas cylinders and other hazardous waste, but they never go into a general waste bin. Say what they are and roughly how much when you ask for the quote, so they are packed and sent to a facility licensed for that waste.

Uncrating after shipping: what it involves

Machines, stone slabs, glass, lighting and large furniture often travel in wooden crates or on skids, because cartons alone would not protect them. Uncrating means taking the crate apart without harming what is inside: lifting off the top, removing the sides, cutting the straps, unwrapping the plastic and foam, and leaving the item on its base or where you want it. The crate wood, foam and plastic then go on the lorry or into the bin.

To quote it we need the item, the crate sizes (the packing list has them) and the weight, and to know whether a forklift or a pallet jack is on site. Heavy pieces need lifting equipment: tell us what you have, and we say whether anything more is needed before the day.

Container stuffing and unstuffing in Singapore

A full container delivered to your premises has to be emptied before the haulier can take it back, so the crew needs to be there when it arrives. We send the people to unload it, carton by carton or pallet by pallet, stack the goods where you want them and clear out the dunnage, lashing and packaging the same day.

Stuffing is the reverse: loading an empty container for export, with the heavy goods at the bottom and the load packed tightly so it does not move at sea. Tell us what is going in, how many pieces and how they are packed.

If you are deciding between a full container and a shared one for goods from China, our LCL vs FCL guide compares them. A shared (LCL) shipment comes to you on a truck, already out of the container; only a full container reaches your door still to be unstuffed.

Shipping from China? Book uncrating for delivery day

Our freight from China is an all-in price that ends with delivery to your Singapore address; unpacking is not part of it. What it does cover is in our guide to shipping from China to Singapore. If your goods arrive crated or on pallets, book uncrating and disposal for the same day and the crew is there when the truck is.

Furniture is the most common case, and our guide to shipping furniture from China explains when it is crated. For the freight itself, get an instant quote from our published rates.

Frequently asked questions

How much does disposal cost in Singapore?
It depends on how much there is, what it is, the crew needed and the access. We quote each job from what you tell us, within a few hours. Because we deal directly with NEA-licensed disposal facilities, there is no middleman's margin on the disposal itself.
What bin sizes do you have?
A pick-up lorry for load-and-go jobs, small bins, and 3ft, 4ft and 5ft bins. Lower bins suit heavy waste such as tiles and debris; taller bins suit bulky, light waste such as pallets, crates and furniture. Tell us what you have and we choose.
Do you offer uncrating after shipping?
Yes. The crew opens the crates on delivery day, unwraps the items and leaves them where you want them, then takes the wood, foam and plastic away. Tell us the crate sizes, the weight and whether a forklift or pallet jack is on site.
Do you provide manpower for container unstuffing?
Yes. We send a crew to unstuff 20' and 40' containers at your premises, by hand or onto pallets, and take the dunnage and packaging away in the same visit. Stuffing a container for export works the same way.
Can you dispose of old furniture and bulky items?
Yes. Sofas, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, tables and shelving go on our pick-up lorry, or into a bin for a bigger clear-out. Tell us the items and the floor, and whether there is a lift.
Do you do office and warehouse clearance?
Yes. Desks, chairs, racking, cartons and unwanted stock are cleared by our crew into a 4ft or 5ft bin, or onto the lorry for a smaller job, and taken to a licensed disposal facility.
Can you take hazardous waste?
Yes. Chemicals, paint, oil, batteries, gas cylinders and other hazardous waste are handled apart from general waste. Tell us what it is and roughly how much when you ask, so it is packed and sent to a facility licensed for it.
Are your disposal facilities licensed by NEA?
Yes. Everything we collect goes to disposal facilities licensed by Singapore's National Environment Agency that we work with directly, such as our partner's facility in Tuas.
Do I have to ship with Shiplet to use the service?
No. Uncrating and disposal is open to any business or household in Singapore. If you do ship from China with us, we can book the crew for the day your goods are delivered.
How do I book, and how fast do you reply?
Send the form on this page or message us on WhatsApp with what it is, roughly how much, the address and the day. The quote comes within a few hours, 9:00am to 6:00pm every day, and nothing is booked until you agree to it.
